Methods is a boutique data science and analytics consulting firm based in Ypsilanti, Michigan. We are a small team of experienced data scientists, statisticians, and engineers serving clients in healthcare, finance, law, academia, and more. We work hard to develop customized solutions that meet the needs of our diverse clients by providing advanced statistical analysis, machine learning, and specialized analytics software development. Roles

Statistician

What We Need:

  • M.S. or higher in a statistics-heavy discipline like Statistics, Economics, Bioinformatics, or similar
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to produce publication-ready statistical analyses and reports
  • Experience with at least one statistical software package like SAS or Stata
  • Familiarity with data analysis in a programming language like R or Python
  • Eagerness to learn software-development tools like git and cloud computing (e.g. Amazon Web Services)

The Ideal Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Comfort with modern R packages like RMarkdown, dplyr, and Shiny
  • Some knowledge of machine learning models and how to run them in the wild
  • Prior experience in software development or server management
  • A record of successful publications or completed projects

Data Scientist

What We Need

  • M.S. or higher in a statistics-heavy discipline like Statistics, Economics, Bioinformatics, or similar
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience building data science software pipelines from data acquisition to modeling to analysis & visualization
  • Ability to produce publication-ready statistical analyses and reports
  • Significant programming experience in a language like R or Python
  • Comfort writing SQL queries in one or more dialects like Postgres or SQL Server
  • Familiarity with modern software-development tools like git

The Ideal Candidate Will Also Have

  • Comfort with modern R packages like RMarkdown, dplyr, and Shiny
  • Familiarity with modern deep learning architectures like CNN’s and RNN’s
  • Familiarity with Bayesian methods and applications
  • Experience with one or more statistical software packages like SAS or Stata
  • Knowledge of one or more non-R programming languages like Python or C++
  • Comfort deploying and maintaining linux servers in a cloud computing environment like AWS, GCE, or Azure
  • Past publications and/or projects on Github or similar
  • Familiarity with docker
