Methods Consultants is a Southeast-Michigan Based Data Science Services Firm

"The unity of all science consists alone in its method, not in its material." - Karl Pearson, The Grammer of Science (1982)

Methods Consultants was formed in 2009 - before words like Big Data and Artificial Intelligence were even a twinkle in the eye of Harvard Business Review - with the goal of helping clients make sense of quantitative data.  Over the last decade, we have helped clients from nearly every industry leverage data to improve decision-making.

We are not industry-specific, we are data-specific. Nonetheless, we have particular strengths in health care, market research, and finance. Keep reading to learn more.

We Can Help  >>

What we do.

We employ experts in each of the specializations of data science: statistics, machine learning, data engineering, and software development. No matter the question, we can get you a straightforward, human answer.

Health Care

We have long-standing relationships with several large medical systems. We analyze patient outcome data, and help them use that information to reduce hospital costs and patient complications.

Academia

Our data scientists have assisted researchers from nearly every discipline that believes in objective truth (no, not all of them do…) to be published in peer-reviewed journals and acquire highly competitive grants.  Every year we appear as co-authors on published manuscripts for our work performing quantitative analysis.

Finance

We have developed client-specific applications based on key modulations in data to automate the forecasting of equity moves, enabling our clients to respond proactively and nimbly to market signals.

Market
Research

Clients have relied on us to perform advanced statistical modeling for post-market surveillance, advertising ROI, and optimizing the geographical location for new establishments.

Biomedical
Research

We have developed statistical analysis plans for companies submitting their products and devices to the FDA for approval, and our analysis has helped demonstrate that the products conform to the manufacturers claims.

Law

Our consultants have used their data expertise to serve as consultants and expert witnesses in complex litigation.

The Methods Team

Jeremy Albright, Ph.D.

CEO and Senior Data Scientist

Jeremy holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University and has been working as a statistical consultant in academia and private industry since 2005. His research has been published in peer reviewed journals from a number of disciplines including public health, biomedical research, psychology, and epidemiology, and he has been invited to present on data science topics at conferences in the United States and abroad. Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, and raised in a culture that discouraged vanity and frivolities, he learned early to approach every task with humility and a spirit of collaboration.

Caleb Scheidel, MS

Associate Data Scientist

Caleb is driven by the rapidly increasing role that data plays in resolving today’s business, medical, engineering and social problems.

Always searching for more data skills to add to his toolbox, Caleb has developed expertise in cloud computing, building machine learning pipelines, and software development and operations since joining the Methods team in the spring of 2017.

Prior to data science consulting, he received a Master’s of Science in biostatistics from the University of Michigan, where he taught introductory statistics to undergraduates as a graduate student instructor. Outside of work, Caleb enjoys running, reading, and exploring the great outdoors of Michigan.

Michael Battaglia, MS

Associate Data Scientist

Michael is a programmer and statistical researcher who enjoys using complex datasets to answer business questions. When receiving his Master’s Degree in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, he improved his programming skills, learned to write statistical reports, and worked with real world data.

His passions include machine learning and programming in R and Python. While working at Method’s, he enjoys the opportunity to constantly learn and keep up with the newest tools and methods. Michael enjoys consulting as it is a fast-paced environment which gives him the opportunity to work on data from many industries.

Nikki Kamouneh

Assistant Data Scientist

Nikki is a research assistant who helps with statistical analysis, business development and other data science tasks. She received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and is now pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Statistics, where she is a graduate assistant for the Mathematics department. She was driven to go back to school after finding that her passion was working with data and seeing what insights can be revealed from it.

Nikki is also a huge animal lover. In her free time, she likes to play with her dog (Olive), two cats (Lucy and Pepper), and bearded dragon (Pork Chop)

Linus

Curator of Office Stick Collection

Linus was rescued from a shelter in Kokomo, Indiana in the fall of 2013 before moving to Ypsilanti, MI later that year. A world champion swimmer, he is in charge of bringing in sticks (and only the best sticks) from Riverside Park and maintaining high morale in our fast-paced, agile environment.
